September 22, 2020 ——The exciting news is that the Tumaini Fund Canada pallet containing 787 pounds of items is now in Guernsey, ready to be put into a container heading to Kagera, Tanzania. It is another long sea voyage and then about 1300 km by truck to reach the orphans.
Crafters from Oceanside as well as Gold River, Nanaimo, Ladysmith, and Duncan made a total of 1525 dresses, sweaters, boys’ shirts, blankets, Izzy Dolls and toques as well as sewing hundreds of items for the girls’ Personal Care Kits, and donating new washcloths and underwear for the kits.
To pay for the shipping we have been sorting and returning recyclable bottles and cans donated by people in the Nanoose community.
